KUCHING: Sarawak Workers Party’s (SWP) wish for year 2020 is to see the setting of a collecting, processing and packaging centre (CPPC) in Song District.

SWP president Munan Laja has proposed for the Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development (Manred) to set up a CPPC as the district is famous for its durian and dabai (local black olives) fruits.

“Everyone is asking for durian and dabai from Song because the fruits from the area are tasty and of high quality,” he said.

He said during fruit season, there is abundance of durians and dabai from the district that needs to be brought to as far as Sibu, Bintulu and Kuching for sale, which is very time consuming.
