MIRI: A local man and his wife sustained injuries following a two-vehicle collision at Jalan Sepupok-Batu Niah today (Mar 17).
The accident, which involved a pick-up truck laden with oil palm fruits and a Proton Saga, occurred around 2 pm.
Firefighters from the Batu Niah station were promptly dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, the team discovered that the victims, both aged 47, were still trapped in the wrecked Proton Saga. The extent of their injuries was unknown.
They extricated the victims from the vehicle, provided preliminary treatment, and then transported them to the Batu Niah health clinic for further medical attention.
Meanwhile, the pick-up truck driver escaped the collision unscathed.
The team concluded the operation at 2.45pm.
