MIRI: A motorcyclist was killed and his pillion rider injured, in a collision with a car at Jalan Bulatan Park here on Thursday night.
According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the collision occurred when the car was making an illegal U-turn.
In the 10.10pm incident, both the car and the motorcycle were heading towards Piasau, when the car, driven by a 24 year-old woman, made an illegal U-turn to the Saberkas Roundabout.
The 21 year-old motorcyclist, identified as Ferguson Johnito was pronounced dead at Miri hospital, while his pillion – 18 year-old Franklin Sidi, sustained bodily injuries.
The rider and his pillion were flung off the motorcycle upon impact with the car.
The motorcyclist and his pillion friend were heading for home from their workplace.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
