KUCHING: An accident took the life of a motorcyclist. The fatal collision occurred here at Jalan Pustaka, last night (Nov 18).
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu identified the deceased as Fahzrul Shah Abdul Khalik, 18, from Kampung Bintawa Batu.
“Upon arrival at the scene around 7.30pm, it was reported that the driver was from Taman Duranta, Gita who was heading towards Jalan Pustaka. During the process of turning right, the motorbike collided with a four-wheel drive sports utility vehicle (SUV) that was in the process of turning right onto the road.
“Due to the collision, the deceased sustained a fatal head injury and was pronounced dead on scene by the paramedics,” Alexson said.
The body was later sent to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Forensic Department for further action.
“The driver and passenger of the SUV did not sustain any injuries,” he added.
Furthermore, further investigation of the case is still ongoing under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Preliminary investigation found out that the cause of the accident was due to the SUV driver turning right but further investigation is still underway,” he said.
