SERIAN: A male car passenger died while receiving treatment.
He was earlier involved in a road accident at KM42 Kuching-Serian Road in the wee hours of Saturday.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred at 1am when a car driven by a 20-year-old woman and a passenger (victim) identified as Hendry Jaluh, 33, were on their way to Serian.
“During their journey, the car is believed to have gone out of control and knocked an electric post and then crashed into a ditch.
“As a result, the passenger sustained internal injuries and was trapped in his seat while the driver who sustained injuries on her right hand managed to get out safely,” he said in a statement.
Alexson added that Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was alerted to assist in extricating the trapped victim, who was later sent to Serian Hospital for immediate treatment.
The victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment in the hospital’s emergency unit.
