The Malaysian Official Designers Association (MODA) recently held an exclusive gathering at the Le Méridien Petaling Jaya. The special event gathered together distinguished guests and MODA members to celebrate Hari Raya as well as their wonderful journey in the fashion industry.
MODA celebrates another milestone
Many beautiful moments were captured during the MODA RAYA event at Le Méridien Petaling Jaya. The exclusive gathering brought together esteemed guests and members of the Malaysian Official Designers Association (MODA) to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Here, we had the opportunity to meet Jay Ishak, the newly elected president of MODA, who will now be in charge of Malaysian designers and auxiliary people in the fashion industry.
The previous president was Melinda Looi, a fashion designer recognised for her avant-garde and vintage style.
Jay is an established and highly experienced event director with a career spanning over 20 years in the industry.
With her extensive expertise in managing and executing high-level corporate gatherings, trade shows, conferences, and fashion shows, Jay aims to bring her invaluable skills and network to her role as the president of MODA.
“My vision and leadership aims are to propel MODA towards empowering growth through collaboration, innovation, and advocacy,” says Jay, who is on track to establish a vibrant and thriving fashion community that will inspire and uplift all of its members.
She is dedicated to providing Malaysian fashion and creative industry professionals with the resources and opportunities they need to scale globally.
Three exciting events have already been planned for MODA members. First on the agenda is the collaboration with KL Fashion Week in August, where eight talented MODA members will be showcasing their jaw-dropping collections on the runway.
Secondly, beginning in July, MODA will have its own pop-up store located on the first floor of Fahrenheit KL.
Lastly, an international online B2B platform is being developed so that members can showcase their stunning collections to over 16,000 buyers from more than 90 countries.
“It’s a game changer, my friends, and we want you to be a part of it. The briefing session will be announced shortly. Get ready to take your fashion business to new global heights,” said Jay at the afternoon event, which included a display of the MODA coffee table book.
The beautifully curated MODA book launched last December in collaboration with Raffles KL, a premier education provider for Design and Fashion.
“This book captures the essence of the Malaysian fashion industry, showcasing our members’ extraordinary talents and vibrant designs that define our local fashion landscape. It serves as a visual celebration of MODA’s remarkable journey with our members,” Jay said.
Le Méridien Hotel, Petaling Jaya, expressed its support by collaborating with MODA to provide a remarkable venue as well as a selection of delectable Raya-themed dishes.
We were also given a tour of some of the larger rooms in this hotel. We were impressed by the bathroom, which features a bathtub with a spectacular view of the city.
Jay’s message to Sarawakian fashion designers:
“As the newly elected president of MODA, my foremost goal is to ignite passion and foster growth within the community of Sarawakian fashion designers. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and advocacy, I wholeheartedly urge Sarawakian designers to unite and harness their unique talents and rich cultural heritage to make a profound impact on the fashion industry.
“MODA serves as a catalyst for empowering Sarawakian fashion designers to embrace their creativity, push boundaries, and thrive on a global scale. It is a platform that provides unparalleled opportunities for growth and development.
“I extend a warm invitation to all talented Sarawakian fashion designers to join MODA as the preferred association to propel their fashion businesses forward.”
