KUCHING: Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing will look into the plight of persons with disabilities (PWD) who are talented in creative painting.

According to Tiong, his ministry will also look into the welfare of the artists to ensure that they are not marginalised.

“I will ensure that MOTAC will create more opportunities for them to develop their respective talents in the future,” he said in a Facebook posting today (Dec 13).

A week after assuming office, he said he had received a lot of feedback, including constructive criticisms, to improve the tourism sector, art and culture.

“I have read them in detail. Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it,” said Tiong.

He also noted that the industry hopes to receive feedback on the problems that have arisen and that urgently require priority to be resolved.

“In the past week, we at MOTAC have reviewed and examined various policies under the ministry’s portfolio.

“There is no doubt that are some weaknesses in various areas and policies and we are working to improve them,” he added.

Tiong also said his ministry welcomes constructive suggestions and opinions from the tourism, arts and culture industry players.

“I am always open-minded and welcome everyone who wishes to cooperate and jointly promote the development of Malaysia’s tourism industry, art and culture.

“It’s time for us to look forward and work together to create a new era and lead the field of tourism and art to a higher level,” he said.
