KUCHING: The sight of two men rummaging through a garbage bin at Taman Fitrah last Monday night caused some anxiety to the family of the house owner.
Aini Yahya, the house owner, found it odd that despite the movement control order (MCO) the men were out and about.
The two men seemed to be searching for something in the bin while two others waited on their motorcycles.
According to the 67-year-old house owner, it was her daughter who first saw the men.
“It was 11pm when she saw the men going through our garbage bin,” she told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted yesterday.
She also noticed that the two helmetless motorcyclists were carrying a stand fan and what looked like a toolbox.
“When my daughter asked them what they were looking for, they told her to mind her own business. And then they rode away,” said Aini who is a retired teacher.
She has also noticed that the men had been riding around the area at night despite the MCO.
“They went away and then came again. They came twice. Once at 2am and then at 4am. Three times on the same night!” she said, adding that other residents in the area also noticed the creepy activities.
When asked whether she had reported the matter to the police, she answered in the negative because so far none of their properties had been stolen.
“But I’m afraid that they might have some hidden agenda. I wonder if they were really looking for empty drink cans and scrap metal. I am suspicious because they have tools with them. I hope the police would patrol our area more, especially at night,” she said.
