SIBU: A padi farmer was shocked to find a healthy baby girl abandoned in a bush outside his home in Sibu Jaya.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the 45-year old man came out of his house to dispose of rubbish at 9.30am yesterday, when he heard the cries of a baby near a banana tree.

“He searched around and found a baby girl with the umbilical cord still attached,” he said.

Stanley added that the man brought the baby home and bathed her, before bringing her to Sibu Jaya police station.

“The baby has been referred to Sibu Hospital for further action,” he said.
