KUCHING: A crime prevention patrol was initiated by Padawan District Police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan yesterday.

He said the purpose of the patrol was to show the police presence in residential and crime-prone areas as well as to foster better ties between the police and local community.

“Through this operation, we will meet members of the public directly and they are welcomed to share their concerns and issues,” Aidil said.

Besides, he said it would also enable the police to gain the people’s confidence and work together in the crime-fight.

Sixteen officers are involved in the patrol being held from July 8 to 12, from 9pm to 1am. The patrol areas in the district are divided into four zones.
