BETONG: A resident here was shocked to discover a 5.7- foot long crocodile had  eaten a  baited hook when he checked the fishing rods  he had installed along  the huge trench behind his house near Semumok.

“At first, I thought a fish or a monitor lizard had eaten the bait. I was   shocked to find it was a fairly large and long crocodile,” said Henry Enga Bagor

After he reported his discovery to the Civil Defence Force (APM) here, a group of the APM personnel rushed to the location and succeeded in capturing the crocodile within minutes.

The crocodile has been taken to the Betong District APM Office. It will be handed over to the relevant authority.

Betong District Civil Defence Officer (PPAD), Lieutenant Azamsah Apearal confirmed the incident.
