KUCHING: Sarawak’s interim coach Mohamad Denny Da’ail admitted that there are still a lot of weaknesses, especially among the young Sarawak players who are rather inexperienced in the game which caused the Crocs to lose 0-2 against UiTM FC in a Premier League match at the State Stadium here yesterday.

“We have a lot of chances but were not fully utilised coupled with poor finishing.“To add to the disappointment, two or three of our players also incurred injuries during the match,” said Denny.

An attempt by Bobby Gonzales in the 57th minute including a 34th minute penalty were denied by the goal post.
UiTM goals were scored by Zarko Korac in the 27th minute and Robert Waly Lopez Mendy in the late 85th minute.

UiTM chief coach Ismail Zakaria said Zarko and Robert in many ways helped the team to play with confidence and strengthened the attack, adding that UiTM are also still young and inexperienced and at the development stage.

“It’s not easy for us to play against Sarawak because the Crocs have a high fighting spirit. To me, Sarawak and Sabah play a similar type of football and we require some time to understand their rhythm of play,” said Ismail.

He said in the first half UiTM were under pressure and had difficulty in finding the goals.  “However, I am happy that our players can absorb the pressure against Sarawak and score a goal early in the match until Robert completed the win with the second goal. But UiTM kept on playing under pressure in the second half as some of our players didn’t play well enough,” he added. – By ALWIN LAWRENCE
