KUCHING: The Sarawak squad capitalised on playing at own home ground to beat PDRM (2-1) at the State Stadium, Petra Jaya, here, on last Friday. Sabah-born striker Bobby Gonzales turned hero for the homesters for scoring a crucial goal for Ian Andrew Gillan’s squad off an impressive header in the 74th minute. Meanwhile his teammate, Abdul Rahim Abdul Razak previously put Sarawak ahead with a push-off goal in the early 25th minute.
The visitors (PDRM), however, equalised through Petrisor Voinea in 34th minute via a penalty kick. Nevertheless, praise should be given to the Crocs who were forced to play with 10 players after Sarawak’s experienced defender, Mohd Dzulazlan Ibrahim was flashed with the red card in the 32nd minute after an intentional a hand-ball offence. “This is absolutely a tremendous win for us and the three important points we have earned,” said Sarawak head coach Ian Andrew Gillan.
