KUCHING: Culture Club Kuching awarded Sarawak Tourism Board with a Diamond Sponsorship on 24 May for the Rainforest World Music Festival which will held on 14 to 16 July at the Sarawak Cultural Village.
The mock cheque for RM50,000 was awarded to the Board’s Director of Events & Corporate Relations, Angelina Bateman and the Festival Event Manager, Sarren Michael by the Culture Club’s Director, Dato’ Sri Ho Kim Hee, Entertainment & Assistant Manager, Rajdeep and Club Manager, Raja Hadzlee Shah Bin Raja Taharudin at the Sarawak Tourism Board office.
In addition to becoming a Diamond Sponsor for the festival, the Culture Club will be the official venue for the preview shows in the days leading up to the festival.
“We are delighted to be able to partner with Sarawak Tourism for the Rainforest World Music Festival as this is in line with our aspirations of going into the modern era and bringing the traditional with us,” said Kim Hee.
He added, “We have daily traditional dances at our club and it will be refreshing indeed to be able to feature some other indigenous musicians to give us a sample of their culture.”
Featuring some 27 bands over the course of three days, the festival has become an anticipated annual event for Sarawak, attracting 20,000 local and international attendees.

There will be more activities lined up for this year’s 20th anniversary, including Health & Wellness programmes in addition to the festival’s usual mini sessions, arts and crafts for children as well as traditional food and craft bazaars.
The Cultural Village is full of authentic houses of the local races in Sarawak with traditional games and performances pertaining to those specific races found around the public areas.
The evening performances at the festival take place on two outdoor stages, where people can dance to the hypnotic world music.
