MIRI: Five academics from Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) have won recognition for their outstanding contributions to teaching.
They were honoured at the Curtin Excellence and Innovation in Teaching (CEIT) Awards and the Curtin Academy Fellow Inductions 2024.
Professor Tang Fu Ee, Dean of the Office of Learning and Teaching at Curtin Malaysia, led the accolades by clinching the Outstanding Contribution to Learning and Teaching Award in the Individual, Global Category.
Tang was also inducted as a Curtin Academy Fellow, joining the prestigious ranks of Associate Professor Raymond Chiong, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching at Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Engineering and Science.
“I’m deeply honoured to be acknowledged by my peers. These awards represent the collective commitment of my colleagues and me to continuously elevate teaching standards and foster a culture of innovation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Anita Jimmie, Senior Teaching Fellow from the Department of Work Integrated Learning and Language at Curtin Malaysia’s School of Pre-U and Continuing Education (SPACE), was inducted as a Curtin Academy Associate Fellow, cementing her position as a dedicated advocate for transformative education.
Curtin Malaysia achieved further distinction with a clean sweep in the Teaching Excellence for Global Staff category, with accolades going to Dr Anita, Delon Chai Wei How, Associate Director of Learning and Teaching at SPACE, and Dr Tiong Ying Ying, Senior Lecturer of Management, Marketing and Digital Business and Associate Dean of Research and Development at the Faculty of Business.
For Dr Anita, the recognition underscored her dedication to creating meaningful educational experiences.
“Winning these awards fills me with immense pride. It validates our commitment to designing engaging, student-centred learning environments, and inspires me to keep evolving as an educator,” she said.
