MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) has taken a pivotal step towards driving Malaysia’s sustainable energy future through a strategic partnership with the Malaysia Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (MYCentre4IR).
This collaboration, formalised by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),aims to boost energy literacy and accelerate the country’s transition to renewable energy.
The MoU was signed by Professor Vincent Lee Chieng Chen, Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin Malaysia, and Adrian Marcellus, Chief Executive Officer of MyDIGITAL Corporation and Head of MYCentre4IR.
The ceremony was witnessed by Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, underscoring the significance of this collaboration at the national level.
Lee said the partnership is more than just a formality; it represents Curtin Malaysia’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and playing an active role in shaping a sustainable future.
Under the MoU, Curtin Malaysia and MYCentre4IR will co-develop specialised course modules in carbon financing and energy economics.
These courses are designed to enhance energy awareness and literacy across the nation, equipping Malaysians with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to the country’s energy transition.
In addition to advancing education, the partnership strengthens Curtin Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to engage with industry stakeholders and government entities in tackling key challenges in energy transition and sustainability.
By leveraging its expertise and resources, Curtin Malaysia is positioning itself as a key player in fostering an energy-conscious and sustainable society.
The MoU signing was a milestone that further cements Curtin Malaysia’s role as a leader in energy education and research.
