MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) will be hosting the upcoming Curtin Malaysia Open Day, scheduled to take place at its campus from July 6-8.

The three-day event is being jointly organised in collaboration with the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) and Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.

It holds special significance as it is being held in conjunction with another major event, the three-day STEM Trailblazers Sarawak 2023, which promotes STEM innovation and education.

STEM Trailblazers Sarawak 2023 will also feature the Raspberry Pi Innovation Challenge 2023 for primary school teachers and students. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to enjoy three exciting events over the course of three days.

Curtin Malaysia’s pro vice-chancellor, president, and chief executive, Prof Simon Leunig expressed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and providing students with the necessary resources for success.

He emphasised that the Open Day would enable prospective students to witness firsthand how Curtin Malaysia’s programmes, faculty, and facilities come together to offer a world-class education leading to successful and fulfilling careers.

Event coordinator Nicholas Leong stated that this would be the first Curtin Malaysia Open Day since the pre-COVID-19 event in 2018 and it will be the first to span three days.

“While the event will be slightly scaled down compared to previous years due to its concurrent scheduling with STEM Trailblazers Sarawak, a larger Open Day is planned for next year in celebration of Curtin Malaysia’s 25th anniversary.

“The event will continue to showcase Curtin Malaysia’s faculties, School of Pre-U and Continuing Education (SPACE), and will feature a Future Students Hub where potential students can learn about courses, scholarships, and take campus tours,” he said.

He also emphasised that the Open Day will offer students from all backgrounds an ideal opportunity to explore the university’s offerings and find the perfect programme and environment to achieve their academic and career goals.

In addition to the academic showcases, the event will feature a diverse range of food and beverage booths, retail stalls, cultural showcases, live entertainment, and more.
