MIRI: Head of the Department of Finance and Banking, Faculty of Business at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), senior lecturer Dr Ramez Abubakr Badeeb, was recently presented Curtin University’s 2020 Faculty of Business and Law, Teaching Excellence — University Associate Award.

In congratulating Dr Badeeb on his achievement, Professor Sonia Dickinson, Dean of the Learning and Teaching of the Faculty of Business and Law, said the judging panel commended Dr Badeeb for his commitment to providing students with authentic and engaging learning experiences.

The panel also cited his methods of teaching as inclusive, connected with practice, and using innovative techniques such as storytelling.

Meanwhile, Curtin Malaysia’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive, Professor Simon Leunig, remarked that the campus, Curtin University’s largest global campus, was proud to have Dr Badeeb as an exemplary member of its teaching and research staff.

According to Professor Leunig, Dr Badeeb is a highly-respected and committed senior lecturer who joined Curtin Malaysia in 2017 and currently teaches international finance, financial markets and econometrics.

Dr Badeeb said the storytelling teaching method allows him to engage with students while encouraging them to develop a higher order of thinking and reflection.

At Curtin Malaysia, Dr Badeeb has been awarded the Student’s Choice Award for outstanding teaching performance for two consecutive years, in 2019 and 2020.
