MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtn Malaysia) and project management solutions provider PCSS Consultancy Sdn Bhd have renewed their two-and-a-half-year partnership in academic development, student and staff advancement, and project management-related research with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently.

The signing saw Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Professor Simon Leunig and Professional Services Director Andy Tiong Meng Jun signing on behalf of Curtin Malaysia and PCSS Consultancy respectively.

Prof. Leunig remarked that Curtin Malaysia, as Curtin’s largest global campus and hub in Asean, is committed to excellence and innovation in education and research, including student and staff development and enhancement of the student experience.

Thus, it was very pleased to renew its partnership with PCSS Consultancy.

He outlined how PCSS Consultancy will continue to support Curtin Malaysia’s students by providing internship and job placement opportunities, as well supporting the undertaking of student projects across multiple disciplines, including providing financial sponsorship.

PCSS Consultancy and Curtin Malaysia will also work together to develop and conduct training or developmental programmes for PCSS Consultancy staff, including the undertaking of postgraduate programmes at Curtin Malaysia.

They will also collaborate to facilitate connections between PCSS Consultancy and Curtin Malaysia’s alumni, who now number close to 10,000, particularly for employment opportunities.

In addition, both organisations will jointly explore opportunities for applied research and development, scholarly research in support of academic development or leading to publications, and joint organisation of seminars, conferences and colloquia.

Further collaboration would be PCSS Consultancy’s provision of qualified trainers to deliver training in project management-related applications like Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk and Synchro to lecturers of Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Engineering and Science.

This training will be extended to final-year engineering students, who will also get to attend seminars on Primavera P6 basic and Synchro to be held at the university.

Tiong thanked Curtin Malaysia for joining PCSS Consultancy to create a dynamic project management ecosystem and produce more project management expertise for industry in Sarawak.

He said PCSS Consultancy is working very closely with the Sarawak government, particularly with the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), to produce more skilled manpower and achieve its target of producing 10,000 technologists within the next couple of years.
