SIBU: Several customers who were enjoying kampua noodles at a coffee shop in Jalan Wawasan here, took off quickly after noticing the police’s presence today.

Bowls of kampua noodles were left on the table after customers noticed the police’s arrival at the scene.

However, two individuals — the premises owner and stall owner — were fined for allowing their customers to dine in at the place during the movement control order (MCO) period.

District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit who confirmed the case, said a patrol team acting on information, went to the scene around 12pm.

“Several customers who were eating managed to escape after noticing the police.

“The premises owner and stall owner aged 60 and 25 respectively, were each fined RM1,000 for allowing customers to dine in,” he said.

The compounds were issued under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations (Measures in Local Infected Areas) (No.2) 2021.

Both men were given a 14-day period to settle the fine at the Divisional Health office.
