KOTA SAMARAHAN: The D-Virtual Park here has the potential to attract domestic tourists, said Muliawadi Imran.
The Head of Operations at Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd Kuching Branch pointed out that the RM13 million virtual reality theme park had Malaysia’s first rotating globe.
“It is often asked why the virtual reality theme park is located in Kota Samarahan. Samarahan was chosen as the location instead of the capital city of Kuching because it was part of the digital economy strategy to develop communities in rural areas.
“This is in terms of enhancing awareness on the latest technologies available. Samarahan also has much potential as a sub-urban area development which is surrounded by local education institutions,” he said.
Muliawadi added that Serba Dinamik recently brought Virtual Reality (VR) games to visitors at Plaza Merdeka Shopping Mall.
Some of the benefits of VR games included stimulating the right-side brain for creativity and development of the left-side brain for memory, he explained.
“We launched the partnership on Saturday (Mar 27), and we are offering special discounts of 50 percent on each game.
“Some of the games that are highly requested by the public are Quad Squad, Gatling Gun and Speed Cruiser.
“We have also opened our second branch of D-Virtual Park at Evo Mall Bangi in Selangor which has the same concept to gather the VR and Augmented Reality (AR) technology,” he said.
On the first season of Defence of the Ancients (DOTA) 2 championship, Muliawadi stated that the virtual reality theme park had the facilities and support to ensure the success of the tournament.
“With the Mini Esports Hub D-Arena facility which is in cooperation with Sarawak E-sports Association (Sesa), there are 60 high-spec gaming computers with latest RTX graphic cards and centralised server steam. There are also six individual streaming rooms for online training, content creators and YouTubers.
“As we know, e-sport is becoming a new career path for those who are interested in digital sports and it can make good income. We also have strong support from the Ministry of Youth and Sport (KBS) as well as Ministry of Youth and Sport Sarawak (MYSS),” he said.
Muliawadi also said that the tournament complied with the necessary standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“The organisers have ensured that all the participants adhere to SOPs such as wearing face masks, face shields and gloves. Only the participants are allowed in the D-Arena while their friends and family members are advised to wait in D-Virtual Park or Giga Café,” he added.
