MIRI: A farmer in Sungai Rait, Bakam has donated more than 200kg of fresh vegetables meant for those affected by the movement control order (MCO).

According to the secretary-general of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) cum SUPP Piasau chairman Datuk Sebastian Ting, the recipients were daily paid workers badly affected by the movement control order (MCO).

Ting who was met this morning when he received the donation from the farmer, Ma Ak Kit, said the vegetables would be distributed today.

“We hope more farmers are like Mr Ma here … donating fresh vegetables to those in need during this difficult time,” said Ting when met at Ma’s farm in Bakam.

“The wellbeing of our community is our top priority. We are committed to looking out for one another as we navigate this uncertain time together.”

On Wednesday, the prime minister announced that the MCO was extended by 14 more days until April 14.
