KUCHING: Newly operational Dajialai Confinement and Leisure Home (Dajialai) is fully equipped and ever-ready to cater to the needs of mothers undergoing confinement as well as soon-to-be mothers seeking some relaxation and care before their deliveries.

Located strategically at Tabuan Tranquility here, the four-storey lot has 29 rooms of various types including two economy rooms, nine queen’s rooms, 12 standard rooms and six suite rooms.

It also includes facilities such as a baby nursery, a multipurpose hall, a laundry area, massage chairs, a conference room, a lounge area and even an attached restaurant, Haitianlao Chongqing Hotpot & BBQ. The centre is just a few minutes away from a hypermarket, a clinic, a bank, and a hospital.

Dajialai offers a range of packages for durations of two weeks, four weeks and six weeks – starting from RM4,500 with prices varying based on package and room type.

The centre is founded by Ivan Chai and led by in-house matron, Adeline Ann Lee, who has 38 years of experience working in government clinics focusing on mother and baby care.

“Mothers can come to Dajialai to rest and recuperate after delivering their babies. Our very experienced matron and numerous certified nurses can take care of them.

“If there are any issues, our matron is always by their side to guide them. Staff will also be able to advise these new mothers on the dos and don’ts of the confinement period,” said Chai in an interview with New Sarawak Tribune after a tour of the centre on Wednesday (Sept 9).

He explained that the centre would start with a team of six nurses first. This would be increased once the number of mothers at the centre soared.

Touching on the reason behind the centre’s establishment, he said, “A lot of the younger generation these days are concerned about who will take care of the mother and baby, especially during the confinement period, as in many cases their parents are already too old to handle the task.”

He pointed out that hiring a personal confinement nanny to provide services within one’s home could be very costly, so confinement centres such as Dajialai would be a more viable option for many.

He said mothers could rest assured that Dajialai was a licensed centre guided by the Sarawak Health Department, adding that the centre also catered to all races as no lard or pork was served from their kitchen.

The centre highlights the importance of meals specifically tailored to rejuvenate, recuperate and nourish mothers during their confinement period. Packages include three main meals, two tea times and a supper daily.

Chai said he even planned to reserve the mezzanine floor of the attached Haitianlao Chongqing Hotpot & BBQ for mothers at the confinement centre to have their meals, relax and mingle amongst themselves.

At the same time, the centre, he said, believed that breastfeeding was the best nourishment for newborns. As such, staff members are well-trained to assist mothers to breastfeed their newborns.

Dajialai also accommodates and provides care for those who have experienced miscarriages or stillbirths, or who have had difficulties in the midst of their confinement.

The centre offers weekly health talks and activities, postnatal massages and hair wash, free laundry service, complimentary baby clothes and diapers, and more.

“We have an in-house Chinese physician who graduated from Guangzhou Medical University in China, as well as an in-house massage mentor who is an expert in curing massages,” added Chai.

The centre is offering discounts of RM500 to RM2,000 until the end of September in conjunction with its opening.

Dajialai Confinement and Leisure Home under Dajialai Sdn Bhd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Natol Sdn Bhd.
