KUCHING: The headquarters of the Sago and Nipah Development Authority will be in Dalat and a branch office will be established in Pusa District.
According to Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor who is also a member of its Board of Directors it was decided at a recent meeting that the headquarters of the board would be in Dalat in the Mukah Division.
“It is to give full focus to the development of the sago industry. Additional sites have already been identified.
“And the meeting basically agreed that the second board office or branch office will be established in Pusa District to focus entirely on the nipah industry,” he said this after inspecting houses affected by the storm here, yesterday.
He said in the meantime the board is using the Craun Research Office temporarily.
On Monday, he added, an interview process was held for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
“As a new agency we need a CEO or General Manager along with staff so
on July 17, a CEO selection interview was chaired by the Minister of Women, Children and Community Welfare Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
“Now we are waiting for confirmation from the Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.”
Razaili is optimistic that the board can help lift the sago and nipah industry with many new plans, and move to a higher level to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
