KUCHING: Drains at Lorong 13D, Taman Flora are said to be in a bad condition and opposition DAP wants the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to look into the problem.

Michael Kong, special assistant to DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, said accumulated silt was presently about three inches thick in the drains due to soil erosion there.

“This morning, I was contacted by one Stewart who stays at Lorong 13D and during my visit, I was shown the drains at the common back alley behind his house.

“The current condition of the drains has become so severe that the ground in some areas is exposed to weather conditions, leading to soil erosion and damage to the walkway,” Kong said in a statement on Wednesday.

He added that Stewart had raised the issue to MPP several times before and former MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang did visit the place in March 2022.

“However, it is regretted that till today, no action has been taken by the local council or Lo.”
