KUCHING: The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (Parti Islam Se-Malaysia — PAS) Sarawak thinks Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) can only effectively stave off Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak onslaught in the next state election if it teams up with PAS.
PAS Sarawak commissioner, Jofri Jaraiee, believes that a political partnership between GPS and PAS would enable them to win enough seats to defeat their common rival, DAP.
“PAS-GPS partnership can increase the chances of defeating PH in the next state election,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Believing that cooperation is the best weapon against PH, he observes that PH is relevant in Sarawak although it is Malaya-based.
“PAS has been in the state for 20 years now since its first branch was set up in Bintulu in 1986.
“Being a Malaya-based coalition does not mean that its agenda is only about the Malaya,” he said.
