KUCHING: The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Serian branch has set up its Women and Youth wings at Kampung Koran Mpaneg, Serian recently.
The event was launched by Mas Gading Member of Parliament (MP) special assistant Benadict Benter who is representing Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol.
Earlier in speech, Mordi urged members of the two wings to render services for the good of the community in the area.
The rep also expressed his hope that political parties members, irrespective of political divide, should work together for the general public, adding whatever good initiatives that were planned for the community should be supported by all.
Meanwhile, DAP Serian branch Chairman Edward Andrew Luwak said the setting up of the units was one of their approaches in strengthening the party in preparation for the state 12th General Election.
According to him, a team headed by Mordi has been formed to formulate strategies to effectively go into the rural areas of Sarawak, and would be launched soon.
Kampung Koran was made up of seven villages namely Sara Sumpung, Sara Mawang, Sara Tebas, Koran Kawang, Koran Plaman, Koran Bari and Koran Mpaneg, with a voting population of 1,500.
