KUCHING: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak branch has always encouraged its students to be different from the rest.
“We want you to show that the university encourages its students to create their own jobs, instead of just working for other people,” said the university’s rector Professor Datuk Dr Jamil Hamali.
He said this during the UiTM Sarawak pre-graduation dinner held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here on Friday night.
Jamil stressed that students are the catalyst for the university’s excellence and their outputs must be first class.
“If the university wants to grow or become better, one of its main criteria should be the quality of our graduates ― this is very important.
“UiTM graduates must possess the integrity, intelligence and energy required to prepare for the future,” he added.
On the importance of these qualities, Jamil said it is essential in order for graduates to prove themselves by being able to stand out from other employees at their workplace.
Jamil also urged them to take up the challenge of venturing into business — such as smart farming, opening tuition centres and conducting online businesses.
“I believe this is the key to achieving financial success and opening up more opportunities for graduates in the future.
