DARO: The traffic congestion in Daro township will certainly be solved once the circular road network is completed.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the state government has approved the proposal for the construction of the 1.48-km long Daro New Township circular road.
Apart from that, Abang Johari also agreed to upgrade the road from the Muara Lassa Bridge to Daro town to a 6.8-km dual carriageway.
“These road developments are to reduce traffic congestion as Daro is already rapidly developing.
“I have a deep thought about building the new circular road, and widening the existing road because I’m sure that in the next five to 10 years, Daro will develop rapidly and vehicles will also increase.
“This is due to the better connections and there will be even better networking between Daro to other big cities and will allow the people to visit Daro,” he said.
He said this in his speech when officiating at the closing ceremony of Daro Festival 2023 here today.
As for the Muara Lassa Bridge that will be completed soon, Abang Johari explained that many visitors will come to Daro which will also cause traffic congestion.
While he said in Tanjung Manis, a wider road has been built that can connect to Daro faster through a bridge.
“This means that all these areas will be connected by a wide road, thus encouraging more visitors to come to this area.
“This allows the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADA) to become a new economic area that can contribute to Sarawak’s source of income,” he said.
He added with that by 2030, Daro will be integrated in the development of RADA as a whole.
Earlier, Daro assemblyman Shafiee Ahmad in his speech has requested for the construction of the circular road with an estimated cost of RM17 million as well as a few projects that include a five-acre Pasar Tani, a RM7-million Anjung Usahawan, a 40-unit new housing estate and Daro Waterfront.
