DARO: The iconic Daro Festival is expected to be included in the Sarawak Tourism Calendar.
Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this would become a reality if no obstacles get in the way.
“My ministry will channel the allocation, and this will involve district office, district officers and elected representatives of the area for the festival,” he said at the closing of the Daro Festival 2022 here on Yesterday (Aug 14).
Earlier, Abdul Karim congratulated the organiser of the Daro Festival which has seen an overwhelming response from the public.
“After seeing the good response from the people, I can say that the Daro Festival for this year is very successful,” he said.
The 10-day Daro Festival commenced on Aug 5 and concluded on Yesterday (Aug 14).
The event also saw more than 150 stalls operated by locals and outsiders to sell local and other products.
Daro Festival is normally held annually to commemorate the recognition of Daro as a district in Sarawak.
Also present were Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawai; Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad; Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi; Telian assemblyman Royston Valentine; and Chief Political Secretary to Premier Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
