KUCHING: Daro Assemblyman Safiee Ahmad urged the Federal government to consider and approve the construction of the proposed gravel road from Kpg Penasu to Nanga Semah in Daro.  Safiee made the call in his debate speech at State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here, yesterday.

“Although we only have one gravel road, it has high impact on the development of socio-economy especially for the rural community.

“The new proposed 10km-gravel road has been proposed by the Drainage and Irrigation Department of Mukah Division,” said Safiee.

He added that the road would enhance the socio-economy of the people in Kpg Penasu and seven other longhouses in the Nanga Semah area.

“It will also enable the people to reach the nearby clinic and schools faster instead of using the river,” he said.  Safiee also said that Daro needs more commercial banks in line with development in the district.

“At present Daro has only one Bank Agro branch and a Bank Rakyat’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

“Problems arise during month end when the bank cannot cope with the number of customers,” he pointed out.
