THE Daro Phase II New Township in Mukah is set to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said infrastructure preparations for the new township commenced in March.
He said the construction of shophouses, including those for cottage industries, is expected to start in the third quarter of 2024 with an implementation period of 18 months.
“The Land and Survey Department is preparing the Daro Town Development Plan, with the final plan expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024 and will be submitted to the State Planning Council for consideration.
“Among the components proposed in the development plan are for residential, industrial, commercial use, government reserves, fields or recreational areas, neighbourhood sub-centres, burial grounds, and road networks,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech today.
Besides the Daro Phase II New Township, Awang Tengah who is Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, said the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) is also implementing other new township projects such as Sebuyau New Township, Samarahan; New Township Simunjan, Samarahan; and Pekan Baru Kabong, Betong.
Under the 12MP, the government has approved an allocation ceiling of RM227,148,471.00 for implementing new urban development projects, new towns, and service centres.
“Service centre development projects are also prioritised and are currently in various stages of implementation, including Lingga Service Centre in Sri Aman, Matu Service Centre in Mukah, Igan Service Centre in Mukah, Matadeng Service Centre in Mukah, and Ulu Merapok Service Centre in Lawas,” he said.
