KUCHING: Sixty housing units at Darul Hana for Kampung Pulo Ulu residents will be completed at least by the fourth quarter of this year or early next year.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (Utility) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said all residents will be able to move in upon the completion of the said project.

“We have held discussions with the Penghulus, Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and other related agencies.

“Almost all the residents of Kampung Pulo Ulu will be relocated when the 60 units are completed either by the fourth quarter of this year or early next year.

“However, priority is given to those whose houses are often affected by flash floods followed by neighbouring villages such as Kampung Pulo Hilir and Kampung Panglima Seman,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Pantai Damai assemblyman, said this during a session with the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) ‘Youth Movement 1828’ Pantai Damai branch held at a hotel here, yesterday.

Following this, he said the state government, LCDA and other related agencies will continue to develop infrastructure that will benefit the people around the Darul Hana area.

In previous media reports, Dr Abdul Rahman said the housing project was redesigned because the previous design with a townhouse concept was not accepted by the local residents.

“Information obtained from several agencies such as LCDA, HDC, the Land and Survey Department and the ministry revealed that the townhouse concept that was built a while ago was not well accepted.

“So the concept of this house has been changed and rebuilt like the existing house,” he was quoted as saying.
