KUCHING: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), has introduced the Bed Management Monitoring Dashboard to enhance patient care and hospital resource optimisation.

The dashboard, developed by UNIMAS’ Institute of Social Informatics and Technological Innovations (ISITI), the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), and the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences (FMHS), provides real-time updates on bed availability and hospital occupancy.

It aims to streamline patient flow, improve decision-making, and reduce administrative workload for hospital staff.

UNIMAS deputy vice chancellor (Academic and International) Professor Dr Fitri Suraya Mohamad Hapni Joblie said that by offering a clear picture of bed usage and patient flow, the system helps hospital staff manage admissions, transfers, and discharges more efficiently.

“It’s not just about technology; it’s about making daily work easier and improving outcomes for both patients and staff,” she was quoted as saying in a press statement.

The initiative builds on the success of the Patient Tracking System implemented in 2022 and marks another milestone in SGH’s journey toward digital healthcare solutions.

The handover ceremony was attended by representatives from UNIMAS, including Dr Fitri, ISITI director Professor Dr Tan Chong Eng, and other key contributors.

SGH was represented by deputy director (Medical) Dr Wong Kee Ging, Emergency and Trauma Department Head Dr Chan, and Matron Siswanita, among others.
