SEMPORNA: Dataran Regatta Lepa jetty here that has had a facelift could become a tourist attraction, said Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Jaujan Sambakong.
He said the jetty which was upgraded at a cost of RM1.2 million, was equipped with solar power for its lighting system as well as lamps under the jetty’s bridge that could be used at night and during high tide.
“The upgrading of the jetty began in August which was earlier than planned, and completed in only about four months.
“I hope anyone who uses this facility will take good care of it,” he said to reporters after officiating the jetty here yesterday.
He added jetties in nearby islands will also be upgraded in the future for the convenience of the local people and tourists. – Bernama
