KAPIT: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for the capsized boat at SK Lepong Balleh, Jalan Melekun, here, has entered its ninth day.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said key points discussed during a briefing included coordination with various agencies, deployment of resources, and the continuation of search efforts along the riverbanks and downstream.

“Significant advancements comprise the participation of the K9 unit from the Sarawak State Fire and Rescue Department and the instruction for the Water Rescue Unit (WRU) from Sungai Merah Fire and Rescue Department to participate in the operation.

“Additionally, technical support from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Kapit, including the deployment of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) team and a drone team, has been arranged to aid in surveying the area,” the department said.

The missing victim, identified as Iskandar Ibrahim, 28, remains unaccounted for.
