KUCHING: The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has taken the initiative to hold dialogue sessions with 21 business premises that have been found using public places on 11 January. The dialogue was chaired by DBKU councillor, Tuan Haji Ir. Irwan Zulkarnain bin Haji Muhammad Hasbie.

The purpose of the dialogue is to foster awareness and convey information to business operators on the proper use of public places in accordance with the established laws and regulations and to discuss related issues. During the dialogue, business operators were briefed by officials from DBKU, Land and Survey Department and Fire and Rescue Department.

The concept of public use involves a business premise that build roofing and pole extension within the area of use of the mall and build additional structures such as platforms over the trenches facing the premises.

The extension of the structure done by the entrepreneur to the premises can cause obstacles as well as jeopardise the safety of the public and hamper the Fire and Rescue work in case of fire. DBKU is deeply concerned about creating a conducive environment in the public area to make the City of Kuching North a beautiful, clean, and safe city.
