KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) needs to change its way of working and the people’s mindset in order to compete in the increasingly challenging and advanced world.
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office for Islamic Affairs and DBKU, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, said that the state government at present focuses on the implementation of digital economy to enhance the state’s development.
“The direction of DBKU’s digital economy needs to keep pace with the current pace of digital development in order to stay relevant.
“Planning and the use of successful digital strategy is a must because internet technology has resulted in a world where we need to adapt to make sure we don’t miss out,” he said.
Abdul Rahman said this when officiating at DBKU’s Integrity and Innovation Day as well as Occupational Safety and Health Day at the city hall’s headquarters here yesterday.
Abdul Rahman, who is also the Utilities Assistant Minister (Water Supply), hoped that DBKU could continue to improve the quality of its services comparable to those in developed countries.
“The success achieved by DBKU in maintaining six certifications (MS ISO 9001, MS ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, MS ISO 50001 Energy Management System, MS ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management System and Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem) and one recent addition MS ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) will further strengthen the local authority’s Integrated Management System.
“This proves that DBKU is always committed to excellence and has set aside a ‘silo’ attitude (working in own circle) to provide the best service to the people,” he said.
He also noted that DBKU had achieved five-star and four-star as well as 20 Best Public Sector (State) Group in the Innovative and Creative Convention (KIK) Group project to the national-level Team Excellence Convention in conjunction with the Annual Productivity & Innovation Conference and Exposition (APIC) 2019 recently.
The same event also witnessed Abdul Rahman launched Corrective and Prevention Action (CPA)application, Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) as well as KIK MHC1 innovation equipment and LEAN FMB Management Project.
He also presented the awards to the DBKU staff who has produce excellent quality performance.
Also present at the event were DBKU mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan, director Dr Morshidi Ahmad as well as two DBKU commissioners Datuk Grunsin Ayom and Datin Mary Saadiah Zainudin.
