KUCHING: Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) team emerged as the champions of the Veteran male category of the Kuching Festival’s MBKS Mayor Cup 2017 Football championship held at Jubilee field, Padungan, here, last Sunday.

The red and black jersey DBKU team beat the Police Royal Malaysian (PDRM) team 1-0 off a goal by Marzuki Razali’s in the 30th minute.
DBKU brought home RM2,000 cash, a trophy and medals while PDRM team received RM1,000 cash, a trophy and medals.

The Sri Muara and SJN FC teams were joint third to receive RM300 and medals 1-0 respectively.

The champions of the Men’s Open category, PDRM pose in a group photo after the MBKS Mayor Football Cup 2017 prizes giving ceremony at Jubilee ground, Padungan, last Sunday.

Meanwhile, PDRM team beat the Katahil Remaja team 2-0 to be the champions in the Men’s Open category.

The PDRM team won RM2,000 cash, a trophy and medals while Katahil Remaja team received RM1,000 cash, a trophy and medals.

The Rhino FC and KASLAP FC teams reach received RM300 cash and medals for finishing joint third.

The categories for teenagers aged 16 and below were won by SJN Junior team after defeating the MRP SC team with a 2-1.

Junior SJN team received RM1,000 cash, a trophy and medals.

Seri Setia and First Touch teams were joint third place to receive RM150 cash and medals each.

Dabib Mohamad Pani from Sri Muara’s team was the top scorer for the veteran category after scoring four goals in the tournament while Mat Nor Abu Bakar (number eight) from DBKU team was named the best player of male veteran category.

Hilman Solhi from Katahil Remaja was named the top scorer of male category open ‘9’ after scoring three goals while Shairol Aswad Azmi of PDRM was named the best player.

Muhammad Dzulhilmie Mohd Rafaieh from SJN junior squad was named top scorer of the 16-year-old boys category with six goals while Pilbert Maccann Riot Mackanzie of the MARP SC team was announced the best player.

MBKS Mayor Cup Football Championship 2017 started on July 29 where 32 teams participated in the tournament which is divided into three categories.

Deputy Mayor of MBKS, Haji Hilmy Haji Othman and Chairman of Kuching Festival Mayor Cup 2017, Cr Iskandar Sharkawi gave away the prizes.
