KUCHING: The three-day Consumers’ Day organised by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) shows that such a communal event is beneficial to the public.
More than ten booths were set up. The event saw a large crowd turning up as early as 9 am yesterday.
New Sarawak Tribune met with several DBKU staff members, who were very happy with the event and looked forward to more such events in future.
Here are some of their insights on the event.
NORAINI KARIM ABDILLAH, 47
Community Officer N6 Tupong
DBKU has always organised this programme every year.
Its purpose is to expose the event to the community relating to services which have been prepared by DBKU. On our part our focus is very communal.
For example, we have established the Kejiranan Mesra (KJM), DBKU has given subsidies for those who have launched a programme or activity . At present we have 53 KJM from five constituencies, namely, Pantai Damai, Demak, Laut, Tupong, Semariang and Satok.
RAMLI OMAR BAKI, 53
Accounting Assistant
This programme is really good because it allows the community to know about the products and services of DBKU, and I hope that it will continue in the near future.
The booth that we currently focus on is based on parking spaces and the cleanliness at the Kuching Waterfront. At this point, everything is good and well, hopefully it will help the community and DBKU.
HANIF YAMANI, 36
DBKU Library Staff
Despite the rainy weather, the number of people coming today has been really good. The books are not for sale, however, they are free for visitors who can answer some quizzes and questionnaires.
These are some ways initiated by DBKU to encourage the public to read more.
DBKU LANDSCAPERS
The reception by the public has been very welcoming, and many people are buying plants.
“The initiatives are for the public, and the reception has been incredible. We are happy that the public are buying the plants that we sell.
