KUCHING: The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has been called to maintain its success since its establishment over 30 years ago.

Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi also wanted the implementation of the administration and management of DBKU be in line with the vision laid out by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to make Sarawak a developed state by 2030.

“This also realises the mission and vision of DBKU to become the most developed and most excellent local authority (PBT) in Sarawak and Malaysia by 2030.

“Our meeting today aims to ensure that every aspect of administration, including management, is carried out as efficiently as possible.

“We will carry it out in accordance with our Premier’s plan, so that Sarawak becomes a developed state within the next eight years.

“We in DBKU will also, if possible, be the most advanced and excellent PBT in Sarawak and Malaysia in 2030,” he said at the DBKU Special Assembly here today.

He added that what DBKU was currently implementing was also closely related and in line with two of the seven cores in the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, namely social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

He noted that social inclusion had become the heart of the management of DBKU through the implementation of community activities that include all citizens regardless of background.

Apart from that, DBKU said it also played a role in driving the development of Sarawak but still maintained environmental sustainability.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is responsible for assisting in the administration of DBKU, stressed that DBKU would continue to increase efforts to transform Kuching North into a smart city while maintaining environmental sustainability in line with the five pillars implemented since 2013 – Clean, Beautiful, Safe, Smart and Sustainable Plan (CBSSS).

“In 2019, the second phase of CBS was implemented following the success achieved with the addition of two Ss to CBSSS, namely ‘smart’ and ‘sustainability’.

“The purpose is to be in line with the application of the government’s strategy announced by the Premier when he became the Chief Minister in 2017, which is to implement Sarawak’s development policy through the digital economy.

“We will increase efforts to transform Kuching North into a city that preserves its natural environment. The five components implemented from 2013 to 2023 are our main pillars in carrying out tasks in DBKU in line with the implementation of PCDS 2030 by the government.”

At the ceremony, Dr Abdul Rahman also presented several awards in conjunction with DBKU’s 2021 Innovation and Integrity Day as well as Occupational Safety and Health.

Incentives were also presented to 10 officers for channelling the most complaints each month.

Also present were DBKU mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan and DBKU director Mohamed Khaidir Abang.
