According to Chin Fang Chi, a special assistant to Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei, the problem is serious and needed urgent attention.

He said he made the discovery when he went to inspect complaint about a cracked septic tank in the area.

“I received a complaint from the local merchants about a serious crack on a septic tank, and that its content was overflowing to the drain and road surface, causing foul smell in the area,” he added.

While in the area, Chin, who is also DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Kuching publicity secretary, said he discovered many potholes and clogged drains, especially in the back alley area.

On the cracked septic tank, he thanked DBKU for the quick response to have it repaired.

Chin said the clogged drains, which were filled with rubbish, were not only posing health issues to those trading and staying in the area but also an eyesore to tourists.
