KUCHING: The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) wrapped up a successful weekend of cycling action with the DBKU Criterium 3.0 and DBKU Road Race 2.0, held on November 16-17 in Kuching.
In a press statement by DBKU today (Nov 18), they stated the back-to-back events attracted top cyclists from across Malaysia, including West Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and neighbouring Indonesia, competing at two prime locations—the Sarawak State Stadium and Tugu Pahlawan.
“The DBKU Criterium 3.0, which featured a thrilling race with 181 participants, saw Maximillian Fong Hung Chiat from Giant Racing Team take the top spot in the Men’s Open category.
“Fong’s exceptional performance earned him first place, while Aizat Osman of DBKU Cycling Team secured second place, and Mohd Nor Umardi bin Rosdi of Tugau Vaie Cycling Team finished third,” the statement said.
The following day, the DBKU Road Race 2.0 saw 172 riders tackle a gruelling 103-kilometre route through Bukit Siol. In the Men’s Open category, Mohd Nor Umardi Rosdi redeemed himself, finishing first, while Fong secured second and Laurel Lauridsen Adrian of Ghost Speed Racing Team completed the top three.
The Men’s Master A category saw dominance from Tugau Vaie Cycling Team, with Syed Mohd Hussein Syed Mazlan finishing first and teammate Mohd Razif Mohd Salleh second. In Master B, Seiji Borhan Mohamad of Pro Apparel Sarawak claimed victory, with teammate Supian Nor finishing second.
The prize-giving ceremony was attended by Kuching North Mayor Datuk Hilmy Othman, who praised the event’s success and congratulated the winners. Also present were DBKU Director Mohamed Khaidir Abang and Sarawak Cycling Association President Datuk Benjamin Hasbie.
