KUCHING: The Federal Court here today maintained the death sentence on a local man for murdering a PKR Miri secretary Bill Kayong on June 2016.

The judges, Datuk Nallini Pathmanathan, Datuk Vernon Ong Lam Kiat and Datuk Abdul Rahman Sebli rejected the appeal made by the accused Mohamad Fitri Pauzi, 35. 

In the ruling, Judge Nallini said the court has agreed with the decisions made by the High Court and the Appeals Court to the case on the accused.

He also said there was no merit to the appeal.

The accused who worked as a bouncer in a night club was found guilty by Miri High Court in 2018 for killing the social activist Bill Kayong by shooting him at a traffic light junction nearby a supermarket at the Miri-Kuala Baram Road on June 21st in 2016.

The accused’s appeal was also rejected by the Appeals Court on February 18 2020.
