SARATOK: Chieftain or Tuai Rumah (TR) of Mendas Asal roadside longhouse about 30 kilometres from here along the Sri Aman-Sarikei road died after suffering severe head injuries believed due to a hit and run incident in front of his longhouse on Wednesday night.

Betong Fire and Rescue Services Officer, PBK I Henry Jugah who coincidently passed by the area going to Saratok Fire and Rescue Services (BBP) Station for the Summer Camp 2017 programme, said the victim, Tuai Rumah Lemong Landi, 62, was found lying motionless on the side of the road.

“After passing the Pusa junction and right in front of Rumah Mendas Asal, at 7.25pm, I saw a man lying on the side of the road and immediately stopped the vehicle and found out that the victim was TR Lemong Landi from the identification that was found,” he pointed out.

As such he and his members contacted BBP Betong and Saratok to seek help besides trying to save the victim who was found in semiconscious condition.
