MIRI: A badly decomposed body of a 54-year-old man was found at a rented unit of a Quadruplex flat in Permyjaya yesterday.
According to Miri Police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah, putrid stench which had been bothering residents nearby led to the discovery of the body.
“We believe that the victim had been dead for at least three to four days prior to the discovery around 7am today,” Lim said.
A team of police immediately went to the place after being alerted that morning.
Firemen from Lopng fire station were also deployed to the scene to help unlock the door of the flat by force.
“The body was lying inside one of the rooms. No foul play was suspected in his death,” said Lim.
He said some friends of the deceased had called his cellphone but nobody answered.
The case has been classified as sudden death.
