SIBU: Local Member of Parliament’s Service Centre has received complaints from the town’s residents regarding the road works in front of the community clinic at Rejang Traffic Park, which have been suspended with caution tape for about three weeks.

The work should be completed as soon as possible to facilitate access for elderly individuals with mobility issues.

Yap Ling, chairperson of the DAP Pelawan Branch on Tuesday stated that the project was intended to make it easier for elderly individuals with difficulty walking or patients with leg injuries requiring wheelchairs to visit the community clinic at Rejang Traffic Park, especially during heavy rain or scorching heat.

Yap, who is also the assistant to Sibu Member of Parliament Oscar Ling ChaI Yew, mentioned that while the road in front of the clinic has already been paved with bitumen, a stretch of several feet connecting the clinic to the road has been left incomplete for about three weeks.

“This delay has caused inconvenience to the public and patients.

“I urge the contractor responsible for this project to take a few days to finish the remaining work, clear away the scattered sand and mud, and clean the road surface to prevent accidents caused by motorcyclists slipping,” Yap added.
