KUCHING: The Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) welcomed a delegation from the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) to Kuching.
The NCCIM delegation, led by its president Datuk Low Kian Chuan, will be here from March 28 to 30. A total of 30 delegates from the five constituent chambers of the NCCIM comprising presidents, business leaders, investors and representatives participated in this mission.
SBF was similarly represented by 30 delegates from 10 of its component members.
The objective of this visit is to create awareness on the investment opportunities in Sarawak aside from creating the platform for our members to network.
The three-day event will consist of a field trip to the Semenggoh Nature Reserve as well as a visit to the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre for a briefing and tree planting ceremony to commemorate the visit by NCCIM.
Delegates also engaged in a business luncheon with presentations from Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA), Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Press Metal Sdn Bhd culminating in a business-to-business (B2B) networking session.
According to SBF President Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Abang Openg, SBF hoped to establish a solid platform to develop commercial and industrial ties with NCCIM.
“We have a good infrastructure and ecosystem in supporting an ideal climate for investments. And our existing policy in Sarawak is also business-friendly to investors.
“And we hope the private sector, especially the entrepreneurs from both NCCIM and SBF will leverage on all this to foster and enhance domestic cooperation.”
