KUCHING: Dr Hazland Abang Hipni recently distributed contributions totalling RM30,800 to 68 recipients within his constituency.
The contributions were extended to students pursuing higher education, as well as individuals dealing with chronic illnesses and bereavement.
“The recipients hail from Kampung Semilang, Kampung Beradek and Kampung Tiang Api. Among them, 13 students are enrolled in diploma and bachelor programmes at institutions of higher learning,” the Demak Laut assemblyman said in a statement.
He expressed his satisfaction with the increasing number of constituents gaining admission to both public and private higher education institutions, as well as vocational training programmes like the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) and GiatMara. He also recognised the importance of aligning educational choices with current job market demands.
Dr Hazland, who also serves as the Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environment Sustainability, encouraged the recipients and other students to take up the challenge of pursuing advanced academic achievements, including postgraduate studies.
Simultaneously, he expressed his hope that the contributions would alleviate the burdens of 37 recipients grappling with chronic illnesses and extend support to 18 recipients facing bereavement. “I hope that the contributions can ease the financial strains faced by the families of the recipients.”
