Boarding facilities have been proposed for Sekolah Rendah Long Apu
Dennis Ngau (GPS-Telang Usan) said this is important to ensure that the pupils receive the best education by staying in school during school days.
He said boarding facilities will ensure that pupils attend their classes regularly and concentrate on their studies.
“This request is in addition to my advice to parents in my constituency to help increase student enrolment in schools in their respective longhouse which will enable the schools to continue to function,” he said when debating the motion of thanks to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri’s opening remarks.
On a separate matter, Dennis urged the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) to work doubly hard to ensure telephone connectivity in the remote areas.
Meanwhile, he called for a medical facility to be located in Long Aton, Ulu Tinjar following the closure of the 1Malaysia clinic in Long Lama.
“I would like to urge the Ministry of Health to locate the facility in Rh Long Aton. If the ministry cares for the rakyat’s health they must support this move to serve the people from various longhouses and settlements in the surrounding areas.
He said Ulu Tinjar is located far upriver and the nearest clinic is located at Long Loyang Tinjar, reachable only by boat and 4WD vehicles.
